Meist

Hooletult täidetud eemaldamistaotlus ei too lurk.ee-s kaasa edasisi toiminguid.

About us

Lurk.ee is an international entertainment website that saw the light of day in September 2026. We collect our stories from several different sources. To make our work more efficient we use artificial intelligence.

If your pictures, videos or stories about you are on lurk.ee and you want them removed, do the following: go to the "contact us" section and open the contact form. Select the subject "some other reason" and write in the additional information that the story is about you and you want it removed. Add a link to the story in the request. Please note, however, that we do not remove discussions about public figures or about persons who require registration or following, but who can in practice be seen by anyone. This applies to persons as well as to profiles on all platforms.

A carelessly completed removal request will not lead to further action on lurk.ee.

Cookie Policy

Are cookies used on the website and what are they?

We use cookies and similar technologies on our website. When you first visit, you choose whether to accept or reject them, or pick individual categories. We use four categories:

  • Strictly necessary — required to load the site, keep your session, and remember your cookie choice. These do not require consent.
  • Analytics (requires consent) — a first-party visitor identifier, page views, time spent reading, scroll depth and outbound clicks, used to understand how the site is used.
  • Marketing & Ads (requires consent) — an interest profile built from the topics, people and places you read about, used to personalise content and, once advertising launches, to show more relevant ads.
  • Cross-device linking (requires consent, separate from the above) — a technical "fingerprint" derived from signals your browser exposes (such as screen size, fonts, timezone and graphics hardware), used to recognise the same visitor across different browsers or devices. This is more persistent than a cookie and is used only with your explicit permission — we do not use it to keep tracking you if you reject cookies.

If you accept Marketing & Ads and later register an account, we may share a hashed (irreversibly scrambled) version of your identifier — such as your email address — with advertising partners to measure and target advertising. We do not share this with anyone before you have both consented and provided the identifier.

Necessary cookies are used to provide the core functions of the Service and they allow us to recognise users between page loads and to provide the required features.

Users may manage or disable cookies at any time in their browser settings, including blocking third-party cookies or all cookies. This is also how you change your original choice afterwards — clear the site's cookies in your browser and you will be asked again on your next visit. Please note that disabling or blocking cookies may adversely affect the operation and availability of certain features of the Service.

Register and Privacy Statement

This is a register and privacy statement in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Drawn up on 15 September 2026.

1. General

We respect your privacy greatly and are committed to protecting your personal data. Personal data are data about a user by which a person can be identified. We do not collect, process or store any personal data about you that are not necessary for the use, provision, third-party advertising or marketing, or operation of the service, or that applicable law does not require us to collect, and for anything beyond what strictly necessary cookies require, we only do so with your consent given through the cookie banner. This privacy statement contains information about what personal data we collect, on what principles we process it, and the rights and means of influence you have in relation to your personal data.

Lurk.ee processes personal data concerning you in accordance with this privacy statement and applicable law, so we ask you to read this privacy statement carefully.

By using our services or contacting us, you accept that we process personal data concerning you in accordance with this privacy statement and applicable data protection law.

2. For what purpose and on what grounds are my personal data collected and processed?

We collect, store and process personal data concerning you only for predefined and legitimate purposes. The purposes of processing personal data include, among other things, fulfilling legal obligations and claims, ensuring the information security and integrity of the service, customer communications and responding to contacts, and preventing, identifying and reacting to abuse and harassment (legitimate interest). Where you have given consent through the cookie banner, we additionally process data for analytics, interest-based marketing and advertising, and cross-device recognition, as described in the Cookie Policy above. When you register you give us permission for electronic marketing regardless of the form in which we carry it out.

We process your personal data only when we have your consent or a ground required by law.

3. What personal data are collected about me and from what sources?

We collect personal data concerning you from your terminal device and from the data you yourself provide when you use our service or contact us.

When you use our services we may collect the following personal data: IP address, source port, the username you set yourself, and your email address.

When you contact us the following personal data are collected: your name and your email address.

Where you have consented via the cookie banner, we additionally collect: a first-party visitor identifier and behavioural data (pages viewed, dwell time, scroll depth, outbound clicks); an interest profile derived from the topics you read; and, only under the separate cross-device consent, a technical device fingerprint used to recognise you across browsers and devices.

We do not collect any personal data that are not necessary for carrying out the operation, support and customer service of the service, or, where applicable, the consented analytics and marketing purposes described above.

4. How long are my personal data retained?

We do not retain your personal data longer than is necessary for their purpose of use or than a contract or the law requires. Consented behavioural data (page views, dwell time and similar events) is kept for up to 18 months and then deleted. If you withdraw consent, your interest profile and device fingerprint are deleted without delay.

5. Who processes my personal data and are they disclosed to third parties?

An authorised person of Lurk.ee processes your personal data to the extent necessary for the performance of their work duties. When processing data we ensure that all such persons comply with applicable law and fulfil applicable confidentiality and contractual obligations.

We may disclose personal data when required by law or by competent authorities. We may also disclose or transfer your personal data in connection with a merger, a business sale and/or a transfer of business. Where you have consented to Marketing & Ads and provided an identifier such as your email address, we may share a hashed version of it with advertising partners for audience matching and measurement, as described in the Cookie Policy.

6. Are my data disclosed outside the EU?

As a rule your personal data are not transferred outside the EU. If a transfer outside the EU is necessary because of system infrastructure or the use of service providers — including any advertising or analytics partner enabled through the consent tool — it takes place only in accordance with applicable law and applying all appropriate safeguards. In all cases we ensure that an adequate level of protection of your personal data is maintained.

7. How are my personal data stored and protected?

Your personal data are stored on servers that are protected in accordance with industry standards and applicable data protection law. We implement measures aimed at protecting personal data against unauthorised or unlawful access or disclosure. Personal data are processed as confidential, and access to them is available only to authorised personnel who need those data to perform their work duties. Access to systems containing personal data is protected with user-specific identifiers, authentication mechanisms, passwords and access rights.

8. Is providing data mandatory and what are the consequences of not providing them?

Providing data necessary for the core service is required for its success. All analytics, marketing and cross-device data described in the Cookie Policy is optional and based solely on your consent — declining it does not affect your ability to use the core site.

9. What rights and means of influence do I have?

Under applicable data protection law users have the right to:

  • withdraw their consent at any time, if the processing of personal data is based on consent;
  • obtain access to personal data concerning them;
  • rectify inaccurate or incomplete personal data;
  • object to the processing of personal data where applicable;
  • restrict processing where applicable;
  • transmit the data from one system to another, if the processing is based on consent or a contract;
  • object at any time to the processing of personal data for direct marketing purposes.

10. How can I exercise my rights?

You may at any time exercise the rights described above by contacting us, for example by sending mail to the address stated in section 12, or by email to privacy (at) lurk.ee. To withdraw analytics, marketing or cross-device consent specifically, clear the site's cookies in your browser — you will be asked to choose again on your next visit — or contact us and we will action the withdrawal for you.

We may request additional information needed to verify identity before responding to your request. If you do not provide those data and we are unable to verify your identity, we may not be able to fulfil your request.

11. Can this privacy statement be updated?

We may update this notice because of changes in our operations or applicable law. All changes or updates take effect immediately after they are published. Users are notified of changes on this page.

We encourage users to read this privacy statement regularly to stay up to date.
